<\/p>\nA final public picture of a smiling Sir Bobby Charlton has been circulated following the football legend\u2019s death at the age of 86.<\/p>\n
The Old Trafford icon passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning, October 21. Charlton played 758 games and scored 249 goals during 17 years as a Manchester United player. He won the European Cup, three league titles and the FA Cup before serving as a club director for 39 years. <\/p>\n
Charlton famously won the World Cup with England, scoring 49 goals and winning 106 caps for his country. The death of one of football's biggest icons has triggered a wave of tributes from across the game. <\/p>\n

It was announced in 2020 that Charlton was suffering from dementia and he had made few public appearances over the last couple of years. However, a heart-warming image, taken in 2021, shows Charlton receiving a Covid-19 jab while clutching a vaccination leaflet.<\/p>\n
He is wearing a white shirt and red jumper, a nod to his beloved Manchester United, who announced Charlton\u2019s passing in a poignant statement on Saturday afternoon. Their statement read: \u201cManchester United are in mourning following the passing of Sir Bobby Charlton, one of the greatest and most beloved players in the history of our club.<\/p>\n
