Boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr could fight former four-division world champion Mikey Garcia in an exhibition in December, according to reports

The five-division world champion retired from professional boxing in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record after beating Conor McGregor, and has since fought a series of exhibition fights against the likes of Logan Paul and Deji Olatunji.

His latest exhibition fight in June against John Gotti III ended in a massive brawl after the latter continued to throw punches after the referee had called it off.

As reported by Boxing News 24, Mayweather could continue his exhibition journey against Garcia on December 9.

The fight is likely to be broadcasted by DAZN on PPV and that could cause issues as they also have the rights to screen the world super-lightweight title bout between Devin Haney and Regis Prograis on the same night.

Garcia has not fought since October 2021 and announced his retirement from boxing last year

Garcia has not stepped into the ring since a majority decision defeat by Sandor Martin in October 2021.

The 35-year-old, who holds an impressive 40-2 record, stepped away from the sport last summer.

‘My brother Mikey had a great boxing career,’ his older brother and trainer, Robert Garcia, told ESPN last year.

‘Becoming a five-time champion of the world in four divisions is something very few have done. I am very proud of my brother for everything he accomplished in boxing. Now it’s time for him to enjoy his life together with his family and loved ones.’

During his 15-year professional career, Garcia held the IBF welterweight title, WBC–NABF featherweight title, WBO junior lightweight title and WBC lightweight title.

Given that Mayweather has fought reality stars, YouTubers and inexperienced fighters since his retirement, a fight against Garcia could prove to be his toughest exhibition to date.
