Manchester United have endured a disastrous start to Erik ten Hag’s second season as manager, losing six of their opening 11 games and winning convincingly just once. And Stan Collymore has ripped into the Dutchman’s squad, naming three players the worst in Premier League so far this term.

Ten Hag’s new signings are still settling, but the top performers in his successful maiden campaign at the helm have regressed.

That has proven to be a recipe for disaster, with United slumped 10th in the Premier League and rock-bottom of their Champions League group.

And when asked about the top-flight’s most underwhelming players this term, Collymore used it as an opportunity to grill the current state of affairs at Old Trafford.

“[Rashford] had a good season last year, but this year he has fallen off a cliff again. If you’re a footballer, you’re paid for and judged on what you do on the pitch. Marcus is either great or average,” Collymore told Lord Ping.

He added: “It doesn’t look like it’s going to happen for Jadon Sancho at Manchester United. By the looks of how things are going for him, it doesn’t appear like he will get an opportunity.

“I’m worried that he looks like a player who can’t deal with the pressure to perform when it matters. Another one would have to be Andre Onana.

He’s a very athletic guy who is obviously good with the ball at his feet.

“He is good at collecting corners, but his performances have been littered with errors, and he has been really poor. It’s sad that the three players that I’m incredibly disappointed with all come from Manchester United.”

Collymore reverted his focus back to Rashford, questioning whether the United No 10 has similar problems facing adversity as Sancho.

The former Liverpool striker went as far as suggesting Rashford must dramatically leave the club to break free from his current rut of form.
