The Qatari royal has reportedly beaten competition from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and other minority investors to near a historic deal.<\/p>\n<p>In November last year, the Glazer family announced a strategic review to explore alternative investment opportunities, including a potential sale.<\/p>\n<p>Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim emerged as the two leading candidates vying for a majority stake in United, while several US hedge funds entered the running for minority investment.<\/p>\n<p>Eleven months on, the six Glazer siblings continue to delay the process, reportedly amid a reluctance to cash in from club co-chairmen Joel and Avram Glazer.<\/p>\n<p>Sheikh Jassim wants 100 per cent of United and has pledged to clear the club&#8217;s soaring debt and invest in all areas, from Erik ten Hag&#8217;s squad to the redevelopment of Old Trafford and Carrington to the wider community and infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>He has reportedly gone as high as \u00a35billion, submitting a fifth and final bid in June, which is short of the Glazers&#8217; inflated \u00a36bn asking price.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Sir Jim offered a similar fee for the American family&#8217;s 67 per cent stake before reportedly revising his approach with a \u00a31.5bn bid for just 25 per cent.<\/p>\n<p> <strong> READ MORE <\/strong> <strong>Man Utd urged to sign Marc Guehi as he is &#8216;better than Lisandro Martinez'[TRANSFERS] <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.images.express.co.uk\/img\/dynamic\/67\/590x\/secondary\/The-Glazers-could-be-set-to-sell-Man-Utd-5006712.jpg?r=1697036025510\"><\/p>\n<p>The INEOS chief&#8217;s fresh strategy, which would likely lead to a phased takeover, appeared to suit the Glazers&#8217; desires more than a full sale.<\/p>\n<p>However, Sheikh Jassim is reportedly on the verge of winning the race to inherit control and spearhead a new era at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n<p>According to Qatari outlet Alkass TV Sports, Sheikh Jassim is very close to completing a United takeover.<\/p>\n<p>It follows reports from The Sun in August claiming the Qatari&#8217;s Nine Two Foundation were convinced they would seal a deal before November.<\/p>\n<p>We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you&#8217;ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you.
