<\/p>\nA budding cyclist who grew up in Yorkshire has been handed the opportunity of a lifetime with Tour de France team Bora-Hansgrohe.<\/p>\n
Patrick Casey, who was born in Ireland but raised in the UK, has been announced as one of two winners of the Red Bull Junior Brothers programme. Casey will join Bora's U19s team, Team Auto Eder, as well as becoming a Red Bull athlete.<\/p>\n
Casey said: "It hasn\u2019t set in quite yet and it probably won\u2019t until next year when I\u2019m racing with the team and in the Red Bull helmet. When I've met everyone and experienced it, it will probably sink in a bit more and I\u2019ll probably understand what it means, but for now I\u2019m just over the moon!"<\/p>\n

Red Bull's constant push to challenge conventions in sport saw youngsters log onto Strava or Zwift – an indoor cycling programme – and compete in segments around the world as part of the Junior Brothers scheme.<\/p>\n
These segments ranged from Australia to Colombia and France to Italy. There were even two on these shores: the ascents of Great Dun Fell, and Wyrose from Ambleside – with the carrot of a professional contract for two standouts.<\/p>\n

Daily Star Sport<\/i> <\/b> were invited to Bora-Hansgrohe's HQ in Germany earlier this year to get a taste of the life that will await the two winners of the talent search. <\/p>\n
Bora's massive operation was laid out, with the scale of bikes, cars, and trucks all on show. The two winners will have access to this as part of Bora's development team – Team Auto Eder – alongside their benefits as a Red Bull athlete.<\/p>\n
Anton Palzer, who Red Bull helped transition to professional cycling in 2022 with Bora, said: "Red Bull are the company in sport! It's like, every young athlete has heroes. And if you've watched YouTube videos, most of the good guys have a Red Bull helmet!"<\/p>\n

Casey will be joined by Austrian Anatol Friedl at their winter training camp when they link up with their new team for the first time.<\/p>\n
Friedl said: "I'm just really happy that the work that I\u2019ve done has paid off. I never really thought I\u2019d make it here but the week of the performance camp was really fun and I had a good time."<\/p>\n
