{"id":292069,"date":"2023-09-25T16:34:45","date_gmt":"2023-09-25T16:34:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sports-life-news.com\/?p=292069"},"modified":"2023-09-25T16:34:45","modified_gmt":"2023-09-25T16:34:45","slug":"ajax-vs-feyenoord-game-to-be-played-behind-closed-doors-on-wednesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sports-life-news.com\/soccer\/ajax-vs-feyenoord-game-to-be-played-behind-closed-doors-on-wednesday\/","title":{"rendered":"Ajax vs Feyenoord game to be played behind-closed-doors on Wednesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Ajax vs Feyenoord fixture to be completed behind-closed-doors on Wednesday after game abandoned due to disgruntled fans throwing flares and fireworks on to the pitch<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Ajax vs Feyenord fixture to be played out in empty stadium on Wednesday<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Feyenord were 3-0 up before angry Ajax fans threw flares on to the pitch\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><strong>Listen to the latest episode of Mail Sport&#8217;s podcast It&#8217;s All Kicking Off!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ajax and Feyenord will play out their abandoned De Klassieker fixture behind-closed-doors on Wednesday, Dutch football authorities have confirmed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Feyenoord were 3-0 up at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Sunday when the game was abandoned in the 56th minute as home fans threw flares and fireworks on to the pitch.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Both sets of players were led off the field by the referee, but police had to take action when furious Ajax fans tried to storm the stadium after the game had been abandoned.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The match will now be completed at 2pm local time with no fans in attendance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Dutch FA (KNVB) have moved Ajax&#8217;s scheduled Eredivisie game against Volendam to accomodate the re-arranged fixture.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/25\/16\/75816625-0-image-a-57_1695657223986.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Ajax&#8217;s suspended fixture against Feyenoord will be played out on Wednesday afternoon after crowd trouble on Sunday<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/25\/16\/75816659-0-image-a-58_1695657279795.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Visitors Feyenoord were 3-0 up at the Johan Cruyff Arena when disgruntled home fans threw flares and fireworks on to the pitch<\/p>\n<p>The 36-time Dutch champions have taken issue with the decision, claiming it will cause fixture congestion issues.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ajax believe the earliest the Feyenoord match should be resumed is during the first week of November, adding that Volendam&#8217;s participation in the KNVB Cup at the end of October will only create further problems.<\/p>\n<p>A club statement read: &#8216;The competition and cup program is now being adjusted by the KNVB for four clubs due to the completion of an abandoned match.
