Gary Lineker gave a frank answer to questions on whether the former England striker will ever retire from presenting Match of the Day.<\/p>\n

Lineker has presented the BBC\u2019s flagship football show since 1999 and rumours have been rife this year regarding whether he will continue to anchor the show. Lineker found himself briefly suspended by the BBC in March this year after voicing his anger on social media at the government\u2019s immigration policy \u2013 something that the corporation deemed was in breach of their impartiality duty.<\/p>\n

And while the footballing and political world held their breath over the 62-year-old\u2019s future, Lineker soon returned to the show and has admitted he has no desire to step aside despite his recent fracas with his employers.<\/p>\n

Lineker was asked by The Sunday Times whether he would ever consider retiring from the show, but his direct answer confirmed what football fans were hoping for, as he replied: \u201cNo, no! I\u2019d be bored!\u201d <\/p>\n

The presenter\u2019s position seemingly puts some clarity on his future after his son George previously told the Mirror during his dad\u2019s suspension debacle with the BBC that he was unsure whether England\u2019s former all-time record goalscorer would continue in his role. <\/p>\n

He previously said: "Dad doesn't know yet what the future holds for him, right now his contract is his contract. But – in the nicest of ways, and he won't mind me saying this – he is getting old. He's put in a great shift and when his contract expires he will be 64.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think maybe at that point he would want to work a bit less. But let's see what happens, it's early days, and it's for him to say what he does next." Lineker\u2019s contract is reportedly worth \u00a31.3million-per-year and is up for renewal in 2025, but should the much-loved presenter not continue at the BBC, he surely won\u2019t be short of suitors.<\/p>\n
