Ajax\u2019s home Eredivisie game against defending champions Feyenoord was suspended after disgruntled fans threw flares onto the pitch.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The game was halted 11 minutes into the secind half at the Johan Cruyff Arena on Sunday with the visitors leading 3-0.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ajax, who have had a poor start to the season with just one win, sit 13th in the Eredivisie after missing out on the league title to Feyenord last term.<\/p>\n
They conceded all three goals in the first half, leading to discontent from the fans.<\/p>\n
When flares were thrown onto the pitch for a second time, with many landing near the goal, the referee stopped the contest and directed the players down the tunnel.<\/p>\n

Fans paid no heed as the club displayed the message \u2018Lighting of fireworks is prohibited\u2019 on the big screen at the at the Johan Cruyff Arena.<\/p>\n
\u201cDe Klassieker has been permanently suspended after repeated fireworks on the field,\u201d Eredivisie said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Ajax finished third last season and failed to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in 13 seasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n
They had finished champions seven times and runners-up another five over the previous 12 seasons.<\/p>\n
