And he looked very good there. Mountain Bear has a bit to find with him on the balance of his form and ideally he would like it to dry up a bit, but he finished a good third on good to soft in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and the return to this 7f trip may suit after his run at the Curragh last time.<\/p>\n<h2>15:00 Doncaster<\/h2>\n<p><span>Biggles<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If the ground remains on the soft side, then that is obviously good news for him. He did a bit too much early on for me at Ascot last time and paid for it, but that was clearly not his running. He had earlier put up a good effort to beat Ropey Guest in the Bunbury Cup, though obviously he has a much harder task here against considerably higher-rated rivals. It\u2019s a tough ask but it\u2019s a good prize and a small field after it cut up a bit at the overnight stage with Witch Hunter one of four withdrawals, so let\u2019s see.<\/p>\n<h2>15:35 Doncaster<\/h2>\n<p><span>Continuous<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This looks a pretty strong renewal to me. I am not surprised that Frankie is on Arrest given the rain at the start of the week, and I can\u2019t see it drying out that much with seemingly a bit more to come, but that stable also have two live shots with the Queen\u2019s Vase winner Gregory, who will clearly be suited by going back up to 1m6f, and the supplemented Melrose winner Middle Earth.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>You can also make a fair case for the Gordon Stakes 1-2 of Desert Hero and Chesspiece \u2013 most obviously, the improving winner \u2013 and then we have our horses. We had four in here at the five-day stage and run them all, but it was always going to be hard to get away from Continuous as our number one contender after the manner in which he won the Voltigeur. People talk about the tactics that day, but just focus on the fact that he won the best trial for this Classic by nearly 4 lengths, with Gregory back in third, and he was very strong at the line.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Of course, you never know they stay until you try, and maybe quicker ground may have been ideal with stamina in mind, but he won on soft ground in France at two and he has very strong credentials.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tower Of London will be suited by the trip after shaping as the best horse in the race in the Bahrain Trophy last time, and I can definitely see him featuring. He is a horse I rate but I\u2019d have been even more positive about him on better ground.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Denmark clearly needs to step up from his recent placed handicap performances \u2013 though he was giving Middle Earth 4lb when beaten under 2 lengths by him in the Melrose, don\u2019t forget \u2013 but Alexandroupolis is a horse we thought a fair bit of earlier in the season and a combination of 1m6f and some dig could see him step forward a fair deal and surprise some.<\/p>\n<h2>16:10 Doncaster<\/h2>\n<p><span>Simply Sondheim<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He clearly didn\u2019t give his true running when we last saw him in May and I don\u2019t know why he has been off since, to be honest with you. But his record tells you he goes very well when fresh, soft ground suits him and a mark of 91 looks fair in a handicap that has cut up a lot.<\/p>\n<h2>17:20 Doncaster<\/h2>\n<p><span>Sonny Liston<\/span><\/p>\n<p>His best form has probably come on a decent surface but he showed he handled soft with a good run at Goodwood. He maybe has no secrets from the handicapper now but he certainly has his chance in a competitive handicap.
