Manchester United starlet Rasmus Hojlund has admitted his family are ‘divided’ over the Red Devils’ Champions League draw. The 20-year-old forward will remarkably face his twin brothers during the European group stages.

United have been drawn against Danish champions Copenhagen, one of Hojlund’s former sides. But the attacker’s 18-year-old siblings, Emil and Oscar, also play for the club.

Emil and Oscar have made just one league appearance for Copenhagen each, though that has not quelled the excitement in the Hojlund household. The United man admits there is ‘division’ among the family over who to support.

“I called my brothers after the draw,” Hojlund revealed while on international duty with Denmark.

“Our parents were a bit divided, because they don’t quite know who to stick with, but my brothers and I were like: ‘Come on!’ It was very cool. We are competitive people, and that is also why we are where we are today.”

He added: “I’m really looking forward to us meeting each other in the Champions League. Of course it’s great to meet your former club.

“It’s my club at home, but it’s not many times you get to meet your brothers in your life. We have to hope that I play, and [my brothers] do too, but just that the opportunity arises, I think it is cool.”

United paid Atalanta around £72m to sign Hojlund in the summer, desperate to plug their goalscoring issues. Having arrived with an injury, the prolific ace made his debut in the Red Devils’ 3-2 defeat against Arsenal on Sunday.

Club legend Gary Neville was impressed by the No 11’s cameo at the Emirates Stadium. The former defender believes he brings attributes that fellow forwards Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford do not.

We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. Ronaldo was not a classic target man, [Anthony] Martial and [Marcus] Rashford certainly aren’t, but it looks as though he will mess people about. The good thing is that he’s still learning the game.

“He’s only played a couple of seasons at top-level football, but people are expecting him to be an Erling Haaland for Manchester United. They don’t have anyone with experience to help or back him up.”

Neville added: “Martial. We have been watching him for eight or nine years now – and he’s not what Ten Hag needs or wants. This lad [Hojlund], big price tag on him, it was an encouraging start.”
