<\/p>\nManchester United could sign Marc Cucurella today after finding a breakthrough in negotiations with Chelsea, according to reports. Erik ten Hag has targeted Cucurella as his priority emergency left-back as he prepares for life without the injured Luke Shaw for a few months.<\/p>\n

Shaw missed Saturday’s 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest after picking up an issue during training in the build-up last week.<\/p>\n
And it has since emerged that the United No 23 could be absent until November, joining Ten Hag’s only other senior left-back, Tyrell Malacia, on the sidelines.<\/p>\n
It has left the Dutchman in a difficult position amid an unconvincing start to the season featuring two narrow wins at Old Trafford and a defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.<\/p>\n
United have therefore acted late in the transfer window and are expected to recruit a left-back on a season-long loan before Friday’s deadline.<\/p>\n
Chelsea outcast Cucurella has emerged as Ten Hag’s priority option after a disappointing first season at Stamford Bridge following his \u00a360m move from Brighton and Hove Albion.<\/p>\n
The Athletic report United submitted an opening proposal for the 25-year-old earlier this week, which Chelsea countered with a \u00a37million loan fee demand.<\/p>\n
