A pitch invader interrupted the Women's World Cup final and came within metres of England star Lauren Hemp before being apprehended.
The Lionesses were set to take a free-kick in Spain's half during the first half of their showdown in Sydney at the time, with Georgia Stanway standing over the ball.
Before she could deliver the ball, however, someone emerged from the crowd and the referee instructed Stanway to pause play. "A slight delay, a protestor onto the field," said BBC commentator Robyn Cowen.
Multiple stewards charged onto the pitch and managed to take down the invader swiftly, doing so close to Hemp.
They were seen wearing a t-shirt which read "Stop Putler" on the front and "Free Ukraine" on the back in protest of Russian president Vladimir Putin and his ongoing invasion of their neighbouring country.
The incident occurred in the 24th minute, with Spain going on to open the scoring shortly after through Olga Carmona Garcia.
