Timo Werner says he's "proud" to be linked with the "best team in the world" Liverpool.
But the Germany international has modestly suggested he might not yet be good enough to play for the European champions just yet.
Werner was in action for RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Wednesday night as the Bundesliga side ran out 1-0 winners over last year's finalists Tottenham in London.
Werner was on the scoresheet in the first leg of the last-16 tie, expertly smashing home a penalty against Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris.
After the match the German reflected on the tie, and his side's chances of progressing to the quarter finals of this year's competition.
He was also asked for his opinion on Liverpool's transfer interest in him and admitted he's flattered, but added it may be too soon for him to make the move.
"Yes I know that Liverpool is the best team in the world at the moment," Werner said on ViasportFotball.
"When you're linked with that team it makes you very proud but in case of that, it's a pleasure, but I know Liveprool have a lot of good players.
