Jurgen Klopp must sign at least three players if Liverpool are to reclaim the Premier League title next season.

The Reds were thrashed 4-1 by Manchester City on Sunday to virtually end their hopes of retaining the trophy they finally won last season.

Injuries to key players such as Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane has exposed the lack of depth in Klopp’s squads, with reinforcements needed if they are to mount a title challenge next term.

Liverpool’s struggles this campaign led to club legend Jamie Carragher revealing he believes they will need to dip into the transfer market in the summer.

“I'm convinced they'll be back. I still think they need three players,” Carragher said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football show.

“They need that centre-back, they need someone to replace Wijnaldum and they need someone in the front three."

Liverpool have been particular hit by injuries to centre backs, with van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez all sidelined.

Though they added Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies in January, Dayot Upamecano would represent a top-quality addition for the Reds.

The RB Leipzig defender has a release clause in his contract, set to activate in the summer, which means he can be signed for just £37million.

According to BILD, Klopp considers the centre-back to be a 'dream signing', though he faces competition from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich for his signature.

Liverpool also require reinforcements up front, with Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri not producing the quality that title challengers require.

That could lead them to target Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland when the transfer window opens.

The Norwegian would also bring something different to Klopp’s side, with current striker Roberto Firmino more of a worker than a goalscorer.

The reigning Premier League champions could also look to add a winger, with the depth below Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah needing to be boosted.

They do not have to look far for a potential target, with Raphinha enjoying an impressive season at Leeds United.

Under the tutelage of Marcelo Bielsa, the Brazilian has notched four goals and four assists in the top flight so far this season.

France Football report that Raphinha is high on Liverpool’s target list, and brings the added ability of also being able to be deployed as an attacking midfielder.
