Thomas Tuchel has found himself at odds with Bayern Munich in a row over where Joshua Kimmich should play and further action during the transfer window, according to reports in Germany.
The German head coach smashed the club’s transfer record in pursuit of number-one priority target Harry Kane, who was lured from Tottenham in a £100million move, and swooped for Serie A winner Min-jae Kim from Napoli.
But the former Chelsea boss is keen to tweak his squad even further in pursuit of silverware this season, in his first transfer window in charge after his recruitment to the club in March, particularly in midfield.
As per BILD, however, Tuchel’s desire to recruit a holding midfielder is disputed by the club, and by squad stalwart Joshua Kimmich.
The 28-year-old is thought to see himself as a No 6, whereas Tuchel views the Germany international as more of a No 8, pointing out as such before the club’s pre-season friendly against Liverpool.

Joshua Kimmich is keen to play as a No 6 but his coach is sceptical he meets the requirements
‘Joshua is the strategic guy who would like to do everything and could also do everything in principle,’ Tuchel said.
‘He brings a lot of quality to the team, but he still doesn’t have the DNA of a defensive six. He likes to roam freely, he tries to help everywhere and likes to be involved everywhere.’
Privately, Tuchel is thought to have accused Kimmich of making the game ‘too slow’, as the former RB Leipzig midfielder battles to recover his top form.
Bayern aren’t 100 per cent behind the perspective of their head coach, and thought to be of the opinion that they ‘have enough players’.
However, the club are said to be keeping tabs on a number of holding midfielders as the transfer window runs into its final weeks.
Bayern’s first-choice targets include Benfica’s Florentino Luis – who has also been eyed by Liverpool as they bid to fill midfield gaps in their own squad – as well as Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi.

The Nigeria international was relegated with Leicester at the end of last season, but new head coach Enzo Maresca is keen to hold onto his ‘important’ player as the Foxes plot their route back into the top flight, despite interest from a raft of international rivals.
Aurelien Tchouameni of Real Madrid is also under consideration, although the player – regular starter under Carlo Ancelotti – has little wish to leave the Bernabeu.
Bayern also continue the hunt for a goalkeeper in the wake of Yann Sommer’s move to Inter Milan, having dissolved talks with David de Gea.
The Manchester United shot-stopper is currently a free agent and was considered a secondary, but viable, option for the Bavarian giants, but Tuchel is said to have been unconvinced the Golden Glove winner.
