The game is underway.

The players are out on the pitch as we approach kick off at St Mary’s.

Jurgen Klopp says Henderson’s experience should be key tonight as he’s deployed in defence. He previously played at centre-back against Monterrey in the Club World Cup in 2019.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has again struggled with injuries this campaign, makes his first Premier League start of the season.

The 27-year-old will know that this is a big opportunity for him to show Jurgen Klopp that he deserves a run in the team.

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl says Che Adams has concussion, while Oriol Romeu is struggling with a calf problem.

Liverpool know that they can go three points clear of their closest challengers Manchester United at the top of the table if they win tonight.

It is unlikely to be an easy task, however, against a Southampton side that have frequently caught the eye this campaign.

Southampton are without goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, who is unavailable after testing positive for coronavirus. Fraser Forster starts in his place.

It looks as though Jordan Henderson will be deployed at centre-back for Liverpool, which is certainly something that Southampton will be looking to exploit. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain receives a runout against his former club, while Thiago also starts.
