Sergio Aguero takes pop at Pep Guardiola’s bald head in cheeky barb at City boss

Sergio Aguero took a savage swipe at the bald Pep Guardiola after joking about the lack of hair follicles on the Manchester City coach's head.

The Argentine had to hang up his boots in 2021 abruptly following his arrival at Barcelona due to health concerns, which saw him make just five appearances for Los Cules. It came after 10 years at the Etihad, where he scored 260 times in 390 appearances.

It has made him an undoubted legend in this country, where he is spoken up about as one of the best strikers to grace these shores – winning five Premier League titles and seven domestic cups.

But when it comes to coaching, Aguero has no plans to jump in the dugout any time soon – and points towards Guardiola's bald head as a reason. “It’s not easy to be a coach… Look at Pep, he went bald from thinking so much,” he said.

While the barb might look a bit harsh, the two have a great relationship after winning four Premier League titles in five years together at the Etihad. Aguero also racked up 124 goals in 182 matches under his tenure – nearly two in every three games.

That is despite Guardiola tearing into the former striker for turning up overweight to training, which led to him being dropped from the team.

"If your ideal weight is 79-80kg and you were 80 kilos and 100 grams you would be fined and you don't play," Aguero said last month.

"But it can happen! You come across a little bit of chicken for example then you are going to be 50 grams over! Well the first season we were between fourth and third and he said I left you out because you turned up fat this week.

"And what was I going to say? He was right… these things happen. He said it in a good way. And at this time I didn't really have his confidence. But I was always very respectful to the coaches…"
