It will feel like the day all those associated with Manchester City hoped would never come.
Sergio Agüero has announced he is leaving the Etihad at the end of this season and when he does, he will leave behind a void that might be impossible to fill.
Good luck to the striker Pep Guardiola decides is the man to fill the Argentine's colossal boots – and I include Erling Haaland in that.
Aguero's contribution to the club has been immense following a decade of sheer brilliance that made him one of the most lethal marksmen in world football.
He helped catapult City onto the big stage, taking them to a level of achievement supporters had never seen before.
No-one will ever forget that astonishing afternoon in 2012 when Aguero struck the most famous goal in Premier League history with almost the last kick of the season, to help City beat QPR 3-2 and land their first title in 44 long years.
With one swing of his right foot, Aguero booked his place in City folklore and since then he has gone on to cement his status as a genuine club legend.
Those fortunate to have seen him play should feel privileged, because he is one of the greatest foreign imports English football has ever had.
He will be missed – and if he can somehow help City win the Champions League this season before riding into the sunset, it will be a fitting finale to a truly wonderful career.
