Lionel Messi was brutally trolled by Saudi Arabia's boss Herve Renard after Argentina were handed their first defeat at the World Cup in Qatar.
Messi's opening penalty wasn't enough to prevent Argentina from suffering one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history at the hands of a vigorous Saudi side, led by boss Renard. He guided his team to a 2-1 victory over Messi and Co with the help of some incredulous heroics from keeper Mohammed Al-Owais, who was compared to Germany legend Manuel Neuer for his stunning display.
And Renard savoured the moment by savagely mocking Messi after the match on Instagram with the Paris Saint-Germain forward's iconic chess picture alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.

The football greats sent fans into a frenzy last week when they appeared together in a stylish photoshoot playing the mind-boggling board game ahead of the World Cup. But Renard brutally posted the photo with a fox emoji, insinuating that he'd tactically outsmarted the 35-year-old attacker.
Renard's come along way since getting sacked as Cambridge United's manager in 2004. In the same year that Messi made his Barcelona debut, before going on to conquer the world, Renard was shoved out the door by Cambridge after just 26 games, which he lost 14 of.

But since then, the Frenchman's gone onto manage Zambia, the Ivory Coast, Ligue 1 side Lille, and Morocco before taking the reins at Saudi Arabia. He's done a good job with the Green Falcons thus far, taking them from 71 to 50 in the world rankings since 2019.
However, Renard will have to produce another masterclass on Saturday where Poland and Robert Lewandowski await. And one of Poland's stars, Jakub Kiwior, has an extra incentive to win the match as his twerk queen girlfriend will be cheering him on from the stands.
