Roy Keane once branded former Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverly a 'disgrace' before he joined Aston Villa in 2014.
Keane was the assistant manager at both Villa and Ireland at the time, and he left on the international break hoping Cleverly would sign for Villa.
However, when reports emerged that Cleverly could be joining Everton instead, Keane took things into his own hands.
"Tom, he was coming to Villa on loan, but I knew he liked Everton," he explained to Gary Neville on the latest edition of the Overlap.
"I knew he'd been there before, and I knew he knew Martinez."
Keane continued: "I was away with Ireland, and I rang Paul [Lambert], and he went, 'Tom's now not coming'.
"I went are you sure? And he went, 'no Roy, we've pulled the plug, and he's going to Everton'.
"I went, I f****** knew it Paul, knew he was leading us up the garden path, we'd spoken to him for a few weeks, and I'd spoken to him, and I went are you sure he's not coming, Paul?
"Paul's the manager, and he said, 'no, Roy, we're leaving it', and I'm away with Ireland for the international break, but transfer deadline day was that night.

"So I get Tom's number, I knew him a bit from United, and I start giving to Tom, 'you're a disgrace, blah blah'.
"I went on for about half an hour, and I remember thinking hang up on me and he didn't even hang up, and I was thinking hang up so I can stop.
"Anyway, next morning we're training with Ireland, and a couple of players went 'I see Tom Cleverly's gone to Villa'.
"I went no no, the deal is off, but they went no he's signed.
"I had to go back to Villa and call Tom to say 'Hi Tom, nice to have you on board' honestly felt about that big," Keane recalled as he gestured with his fingers to Neville.
