Rio Ferdinand claims Bayern Munich and Manchester City are deserved favourites to win this season's Champions League.
Bayern are the competition's defending champions after beating Paris Saint-Germain in the final last August, and they face Lazio in the last 16.
The Bavarian giants recently completed a historic sextuple and it's hard to bet against Hansi Flick's side.
But City are in the better form domestically and have embarked on an English-record-breaking run of consecutive wins which currently stands at 16 in all competitions.
Pep Guardiola is yet to win the Champions League as City boss and will be desparate to rectify that this season.
Bayern and City certainly seem best-placed to win the competition and Ferdinand believes the duo are deserved frontrunners to triumph in May's final.
Quizzed on whether the two clubs are his favourites to win the Champions League, Ferdinand told BT Sport : "I think so.
"Bayern don't seem to be in the form they were last season – they dominated, took everyone out. Exhilarating football.

"They haven't hit that form yet, I think they're waiting, biding their time with the experience they've got.
"But City, for me, at the minute, look the team in form. They're desperate to win this, they haven't got over the line in recent years when people expected them to.
"This year when everyone least expected them to, they have become the team."
Manchester City dominated Real Madrid in last season's round of 16 and were firm favourites to progress from their quarter-final clash with Lyon.
But Guardiola – who won the Champions League twice as Barcelona boss – opted to name an experimental line-up with a three-man defence and his side were stunned by the Ligue 1 club, losing 3-1.
