Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly ‘lining up a bid’ for Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte as the French club look to strengthen their backline amid injury woes and fears they could lose key players this summer.

The centre-back positions are not something that the Parisians have had to worry about too much in the past, but concerns are now arising over the future of their backline with Sergio Ramos’ contractual situation at the club in some uncertainty.

That is accompanied by Presnel Kimpembe’s ruptured achilles injury which has ruled him out for the remainder of the season while young defender El Chadaille Bitshiabu will be loaned out to Germany next season.

That has left Christophe Galtier’s side looking for new recruits and while they have just secured the services of free agent Milan Skriniar, who will arrive to add some ballast to the Ligue 1 champion’s backline, they may need some additional cover.

And according to L’Equipe, the French giants, who are in the market for a left-footed defender, could look to sign Laporte from Manchester City to help alleviate that problem.

There is much speculation over Sergio Ramos’ (pictued) contract renewal this summer, while Presnel Kimpembe has been ruled out of action with an achilles injury

Sporting Advisor Luis Capmos is reportedly looking to retain the 3-5-2 formation the team has been playing during the 2022-23 campaign and the Spanish defender could help them retain that shape.

PSG are also reportedly eyeing up the availability of Lucas Hernandez from Bayern Munich.

The 28-year-old joined the Citizens in 2018 from Athletic Bilbao for £57 million, breaking the club’s record transfer fee, and penned a five-and-a-half year deal with the club.

After a successful first 18 months at the Etihad winning the Premier League and League Cup and FA Cup, he penned a contract extension in 2019 meaning his current deal will expire in 2025.

But this season, the Spaniard has fallen down in Pep Guardiola’s pecking order, with John Stones and Manuel Akanji now getting the nod more regularly than Laporte, who has made just eight Premier League appearances this season.

If Laporte is to leave at the end of this campaign, there is a strong chance he could add to his impressive trophy haul, having amassed 11 major honours since he arrived on Manchester five years ago.

Manchester City, meanwhile have several other options waiting in their wings to cover for the Spaniard if he moves to play first-team football.

Guardiola can call upon left-footer Nathan Ake as an immediate left-sided replacement while Ruben Dias is another option who can come in to fortify their backline.
