Paul Pogba has laughed off any criticism after his mistake during Manchester United’s 6-2 win over Roma on Thursday night.
The French midfielder gave away a penalty after just 15 minutes of the Europa League semi-final first leg at Old Trafford.
Pogba was deemed to have handled the ball after it struck his hand while he slid to block a cross.
The call seemed harsh, but there was no escaping the fact that the ball hit his outstretched arm.
And the 28-year-old joked that he was becoming too English by diving in for too many challenges, costing his side a penalty.
“I don’t know how to tackle,” he told BT Sport. “Why should I tackle? I need to practise more. I need to tackle without arms.
“It’s unlucky for me. But it’s OK. We are confident still.
“The result is positive but it’s not finished, there is one more leg. We have to stay focused and play the next game with the same mentality
“First half we made two mistakes and conceded two goals.
“After half-time we said just do the right things. We were motivated to score as many goals as possible.”
Speaking from the BT Sport studio, United legend Paul Scholes was full of praise for Pogba’s performance and his fine header which helped to extend the hosts’ lead.
"I thought Pogba was outstanding tonight,” he said. “From that position it's a position where you can create, score goals."
