Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola admits he wouldn't hesitate to ask goalkeeper Ederson to take a penalty if needed.

Guardiola is without regular spot-kick specialists Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero due to injuries heading into tomorrow's FA Cup clash at Swansea.

The fifth round tie could go to penalties if the scores remain level – and Guardiola would be happy to put his faith in Ederson if it came to it.

The Brazilian stopper is one of the most comfortable keepers in European football with the ball at his feet.

Guardiola said: "He has to save the goals first and make a good build up – and after that we'll see.

"It depends on the other players. Sergio is not fit and Kevin is a good taker, but he's not there.

"We'll see tomorrow, it depends on the line up, but it's an option, of course. He's a good taker. The penalty taker has the personality and huge confidence in himself to shoot and score."

City will be huge favourites to get past Steve Cooper's Championship side and book a place in the quarter-finals.

But the top flight giants were handed a scare at the Liberty Stadium back in 2019 when City came from 2-0 down to snatch a controversial win thanks to Sergio Aguero's late strike.

Guardiola is expecting another tough examination and is taking nothing for granted.

He added: "Swansea have a tradition of managers, like Michael Laudrup, Roberto Martinez and (Graham) Potter was there, I see how good the current one is.

"We suffered a lot there, 2-0 down, it was a difficult day. I don't expect a different game to two seasons ago when we suffered incredibly.

"I know about their consistency, defensively they don't give chances and goals, they are so solid in this formation, strong, they have quality up front, quality in the middle.

"It will be a diffcult test, so we have to do a good performance. We were 1-0 down after 80 minutes against Cheltenham (in the previous round) and I don't think it will be any different."
