Brazilian star Lucas Paqueta looks set to stay at West Ham, with Manchester City's proposed deal now just given a 10% chance of happening.

City had been keen to sign Paqueta to bolster their midfield options, and reports had suggested that City had agreed personal terms with the Brazilian. However, City hadn't met West Ham's £85million valuation of the midfielder.

And Sky Sports have now reported that Paqueta is deal 'on hold' – and they have given Paqueta a 90% chance to remain at West Ham. However, Sky also report that City could go back in for the midfielder later in the window.

"This window has been a mess," one City fan tweeted. While a second added: "Been a really poor window in all honesty. City just haven't moved like a serious football club should!"

"City have had a shocker this window… Embarrassing to have dropped the ball like this," a third said. And another added: "Pacqueta off. Olmo ain't coming because Leipzig won't sell another star player. Just get Doku and finish this window, man…"

City have also been linked with RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo – and the German side have already done business with City over the summer window.

However, Olmo would command a high transfer fee, and reports suggest Leipzig aren't keen on selling two star players in one window.

City have also been linked with Jeremy Doku, and they will face competition from West Ham for his signature. However, Doku wouldn't be able to play a central role for City – like Paqueta and Olmo.

Pep Guardiola's side were dealt a major blow in the week, when Kevin De Bruyne was confirmed to be spending a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

De Bruyne, who limped out injured in last season's Champions League final, was back in City's starting side for their opening day clash against Burnley.

However, he was again forced off with an injury. And speaking ahead of the UEFA Super Cup, Guardiola said: "It’s a serious injury, we have to decide on surgery but he will be out for a few months. Surgery would be, I don’t know, three or four months out.”
