Moises Caicedo's new deal will NOT stop interest from other clubs

Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea will STILL try to sign Moises Caicedo this summer… despite the Brighton midfielder having signed a new four-year deal earlier THIS WEEK

  • Moises Caicedo’s new Brighton deal will not stop clubs from trying to sign him
  • Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea could all try to buy him in the summer
  • Caicedo signed a new four-year deal at Brighton yesterday despite the interest

Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea could all look to sign Moises Caicedo this summer, according to reports.

It comes as the Brighton midfielder put pen to paper earlier this week on a new four-year contract at the Amex stadium that will keep him at the club until 2027, after joining the Albion in 2021 from Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle for a fee of £4.5m.

The Ecuadorian had previously pushed for a move away from Brighton during the January Transfer Window, astonishingly posting a plea to the club on social media, asking owner Tony Bloom to allow him to leave.

But according to the Telegraph, his new contract will not deter Chelsea, United, or Liverpool from chasing his signature, as they are set to go toe-to-toe in the battle to secure a new midfielder this summer.

Brighton had received a lot of interest for the 21-year-old, who has started 21 of the 22 Premier League games he’s been available for this season, returning a goal and an assist.

Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea will STILL try to sign Moises Caicedo this summer

Caicedo, who featured in Brighton’s 4-0 win vs West Ham, signed a new contract this week

Arsenal had made two bids to secure Caicedo, with their second offer of £70m being rejected by Brighton, failing to meet Brighton’s £80m evaluation, with the Gunners instead opting to sign Jorginho from Chelsea.

Mikel Arteta’s side are now a hot favourite to sign Declan Rice in the off-season, which could rule them out of the running for Caicedo.

But having now signed a new deal, Brighton are likely to have now raised his asking price, adding a little more security to their end of the arrangement.

The Ecuadorian extended his contract at the club to 2027, despite asking to leave in January

He’ll be one of many midfielders in hot demand this summer including West Ham’s Declan Rice

Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham is also reportedly set for a move to the Premier League

Despite previously claiming he was ‘ready to move forward’ without Caicedo, earlier this week De Zerbi seemed delighted that Caicedo had re-signed.

‘This is a fantastic news for the club, our fans, for me and most importantly for Moises.

‘It will make us stronger as we move forward towards our targets on the pitch.’

That was certainly the case yesterday during Brighton’s epic 4-0 win against West Ham, in which the midfielder played the full 90 minutes.

Interestingly, Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister could also leave the club this summer

Alexis Mac Allister opened the scoring for the Seagulls yesterday, and the Telegraph are also suggesting he could also be set to depart the club this summer.

Caicedo, meanwhile, is one of several midfielders who could be targeted this summer, alongside Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, West Ham’s Rice (as mentioned above), Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong and Southampton’s Romeo Lavia – who has impressed this season despite Saints’ recent poor form.
