Mikel Arteta says Arsenal will not alter their January transfer plans despite a recent upsurge in form which has seen them record back-to-back Premier League wins.
The Gunners picked up their first victory in almost two months at home to Chelsea on Boxing Day, with a much-improved display ensuring they ran out 3-1 winners against their London rivals.
And they followed that up by grinding out a hard-fought 1-0 win away at Brighton on Tuesday to end the year on a positive note.
Before the Chelsea victory, Arsenal had suffered their worst start to a season for 46 years, losing eight of their first 14 games and hovering just above the relegation zone.
As a result, reports suggested they were plotting a second bid for Lyon playmaker Houssem Aouar in January, while former Tottenham ace Christian Eriksen has been linked with a shock move to The Emirates after failing to settle at Inter Milan.
Without going into too much detail, Arteta insisted after Tuesday’s win at Brighton that the club’s transfer plans will remain very much the same.
The Spaniard said: “The last few results will not change our approach to the window.”
Arsenal now find themselves up in 13th place after producing back-to-back wins, although 15th-place Newcastle could leapfrog them by claiming a surprise win at home to Liverpool on Wednesday night.
For now, though, Arteta is simply delighted to be heading in the right direction again.
“This period has been so important,” he added.
“We had a tough week, it wasn't so much about performances but about results yet you need results to start the confidence.
“Now with two wins, everybody is in a better mood. We've managed to get through this period while maintaining our team spirit and cohesion.

“It has been frustrating with defeats and that can affect the team but hopefully we can now go on a runs in a positive direction.”
