Man Utd fans react to Jose Mourinho to Tottenham appointment – ‘Hope he shows up Woodward’

Manchester United fans are torn on Tottenham’s decision to appoint Jose Mourinho as their new boss.

The former Old Trafford boss was named as Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement on Thursday morning.

Mourinho has secured his first job since being sacked by United in December 2018.

The Special One will return to Old Trafford with Tottenham for their Premier League clash on December 4.

And United fans took to social media following the Tottenham announcement, with supporters torn on Mourinho’s chance of success in north London.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “I hope he does really well to show up Woodward. Not too well like.”

Another agreed: “Jose coming back to slap us at Old Trafford.”

“Spurs team is better than ours,” a fellow United fan said.

“With a José behind them, those guys will pull some Mourinho Masterclass considering he (José) has a point to prove to our fans coz of Woodward failing him.”

Another put: “No chance of us getting Kane now!!”

However, some fans are convinced Mourinho is destined to fail at Tottenham.

“Mourinho sacked by the end of the season, calling it now,” one fan said.

“If Jose thought Shaw was s***, wait until he has to work with Aurier!!!” another wrote on Twitter.

A fellow United fan said: “Disaster waiting to happen, more importantly now tho Ole now on a very short leash with Pochettino out there.”

Speaking on his appointment, Mourinho said: “I am excited to be joining a club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters.

“The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me. Working with these players is what has attracted me.”

Tottenham chairman Levy added: “In Jose we have one of the most successful managers in football.

“He has a wealth of experience, can inspire teams and is a great tactician.

“He has won honours at every club he has coached. We believe he will bring energy and belief to the dressing room.”

Mourinho’s first game in charge of Tottenham will be at West Ham on Saturday afternoon (12:30pm kick off).
