Sunday's Premier League clash between Liverpool and Tottenham had everything: seven goals, two injury-time finishes – and Jurgen Klopp pulling a hammy just celebrating.

Managers are constantly hard at work to ensure their players are sufficiently warmed up to avoid muscle injuries, but tacticians tweaking tissue is another thing altogether. Such was the ferocity with which Klopp celebrated Diogo Jota's injury-time winner at Anfield, however.

The Merseysiders emerged triumphant in a seven-goal shootout that saw Liverpool score three times in the first 15 minutes. But Ryan Mason's visitors showed plenty of heart to fight back level thanks to goals from Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Richarlison.

The latter thought he had finally ended his wait for a maiden Spurs finish in fairytale circumstances, snatching a valuable point from Anfield in the 93rd minute. However, a final lapse at the back saw Jota pounce in the critical moment to cut short Tottenham's festivities and send the ground into raptures.

Klopp wasted no time joining in and set off down the touchline, seemingly screaming something in the fact of the fourth official before realising the damage he'd done. Fans couldn't quite believe what they were witnessing as reality set in for both them and the German, who could be due his own course of post-match treatment.

"Looks like Klopp is out for the season with a hamstring injury," exclaimed one stunned supporter. They weren't the only one in disbelief the strategist was hamstrung as another fan replied: "Our medical department is a joke, sack em all!!"

Others were incredulous for different reasons altogether as a chorus of the online crowd suggested 'any other would get a suspension' for the act.

Those critics may be jumping the gun considering Klopp's outburst had only just occurred, with the Liverpool chief potentially looking at a punishment for dissent or disrespectful behaviour to an official.

As if Spurs supporters weren't already struggling to take in what they witnessed during those closing minutes on Merseyside, Klopp's clanger served as the icing on a cake of calamitous proportions.

The win was enough to move Liverpool above Spurs and up to fifth in the Premier League, though they remain seven points off fourth-place Manchester United having played one game more.

Klopp likely would have accepted more personal injuries this season had it resulted in a more competitive campaign, though his heart may not thank him for the last-minute mania witnessed on Sunday.
