Jude Bellingham would reportedly be keen on a move to Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp’s side made him their top target for next summer’s transfer window. The Premier League giants could break their transfer record to land the Borussia Dortmund youngster.

Bellingham impressed during England’s World Cup qualifying win over Andorra, showing a composure in midfield that belied his 18 years after he was also part of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 squad.

The teenager has been a revelation since joining Dortmund from Birmingham City last summer, having already racked up 32 Bundesliga appearances and excelled in the club’s Champions League campaign last season.

He was of course targeted by Manchester United before heading to Germany, and was shown around the club’s Carrington training ground.

But now Liverpool are leading the race, with the Reds hoping an £80million bid will persuade Dortmund to sell, according to the Daily Star.

And the publication claims Bellingham would find the lure of linking up with Klopp difficult to resist.

It is understood the player is happy at the Westfalenstadion and would not seek to force through a move.

But he sees his long-term future as being in the future, and would be hugely tempted by the prospect of a switch to Anfield.

Klopp is said to want a statement midfield signing next summer, and views Bellingham as the ideal fit for his team.

But Liverpool would have to top the £75m they paid for Virgil van Dijk in order to prise Bellingham away from Dortmund.

United are still said to be keen on the midfielder, but are expected to prioritise a deal for his team-mate Erling Haaland.

And that could leave the way clear for Liverpool to target a player who has been hailed by skipper Jordan Henderson as “outstanding”.

Henderson expects Bellingham to grow in importance to England on the road to next year’s World Cup in Qatar.

“He’s a fantastic player,” Henderson told Sky Sports.

“Even at such a young age he looks ready to play in the big games. I watch him for Dortmund and the way he performs is outstanding.

“A year down the line he is only going to get better so he could have a big influence.”
