Jadon Sancho has dismissed suggestions that speculation linking him with a move to Man Utd has affected his performances.
The 20-year-old proved to be the subject of the summer's long-running transfer saga but United failed to meet Borussia Dortmund's demands.
Sancho has struggled to reproduce his best form so far this season, scoring just twice for his club, and Dortmund boss Lucien Favre even hinted the United interest may have unsettled his player.
But Sancho is adamant the rumours have nothing to do with his on-field displays, stating it is merely just a blip.
He told ITV Sport when that question was put to him: "Nah, I don’t think so.
“I feel like every player has a little dip in their career, and I feel I’m going through that at the moment. It is just how I’m bouncing back and I am just happy to have managers who have faith in and keep sight of me."
Sancho was amongst the goals for England on Thursday, netting the second in the 3-0 victory over Republic of Ireland at Wembley.
He added: "I’m just happy to be starting for England. Every time I play I just try to do my best and luckily today I got the goal. I’m happy to help the team again.
Should United go back in to sign Sancho? Have your say below.
“I expect a lot from myself personally. When I play I try to assist and score, and help the team. For a couple of games I haven’t been assisting or scoring but I knew I had the chance to do that."
The links with United refuse to go away though, amid reports the Red Devils are plotting a fresh bid for Sancho in the future.
A move in January seems unlikely – unless United can drum up the necessary funds – but an approach next summer is more feasible.
