Arsenal legend Ian Wright took his chance to give Marine’s manager some of Tottenham’s tactic secrets ahead of their FA Cup clash.
Jose Mourinho’s side are taking on the team 161 places below them in the third round of the FA Cup.
Playing their football in the Northern Premier League Division One North West, it is the biggest gap in the history of the FA Cup.
Marine have some long odds, with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola taking over a Manchester United deemed more likely to happen.
But Wright, who faced Tottenham in the north London derby while wearing the famous red and white strip, has done all he can to see his old rivals suffer a cup upset.
The former forward, who won the trophy twice with the Gunners, spoke to manager Neil Young in the week.
He told Match of the Day Live : “I spoke to him on Friday and we just had a chat.
“To be honest it was all about myself!
“I just said ‘let the guys know what an opportunity this is’.
“I’d expect them to have the ball a lot but I told him about a couple of set pieces Tottenham might do that he may be able to take advantage of.
“He’s a really good lad.”
Wright’s fellow pundit Alan Shearer also had a chat with Young, who is in his third season with the Merseyside team.
The former Newcastle forward said: “He was so excited. He couldn’t wait for the game.
“He’d taken a week off work from Mersey Rail where he’s been working for 21 years, to deal with the media commitments.
“We spoke to him on Thursday and they were nervous because they were having their Covid-19 tests
“Luckily, they all came through it.”
It comes as Marine have had help from local Premier League side and champions Liverpool as they provided scouting materials on Spurs.
While the eighth-tier side are “indebted” to Reds legend Jamie Carragher for sponsoring the match.
