    Fans have conjured up a unique method to sneak beer into stadiums – but the photo going viral is not from Qatar.

    Supporters drinking plans at the World Cup were thrown into chaos when Qatar officials slapped a last-minute ban on alcohol consumption in all eight stadiums where games will be played. The ban was enforced despite FIFA having a £63million deal in place with Budweiser.

    Fans will only be allowed to drink non-alcoholic versions of beer while in the perimeter of the stadiums. However, supporters aren't taking the ban lying down and have come up with an ingenious method to smuggle their favourite brews into matches.

    In a series of Twitter posts, supporters who believed that the picture is recent shared the image that showed a deceptive rubber Coca-Cola cover that can be pulled over a beer can, with the caption: "How to get booze into Qatar stadiums." One fan scoffed: "Extremely risky but nothing like a cold one at the world cup."

    But the image was actually taken in the UK back in the summer.

    Those who are brave enough to try the beer cover out will have to be careful to avoid capture as they'll face six months in prison or a £700 fine if authorities catch wind of the elaborate ploy.

    But fans who don't want to take any risks can have a brew in Qatar's capital Doha after matches at reasonable prices thanks to bar boss James Bailey.

    Bailey is offering pints for £6.72 from his Red Lion pub, much less than the £11.50 for a brew being charged in other bars across the region. James is set to have full house later packed with England supporters after the Three Lions take on Iran in their World Cup opener.
