Edu ‘finds another Martinelli’ for Arsenal after being given work permit bonus

Edu could be on for an Arsenal masterstroke – after a potential signing has been branded a 'new Gabriel Martinelli'.

The Gunners are reportedly interested in Sao Paulo striker Brenner and have been given another welcome bonus with news over his passport.

It is believed that Brenner owns an Italian passport, meaning that he will not require to obtain a work permit to move to the Premier League.

Arsenal secured the signature of Martinelli in the exact same way – after discovering that he also had an Italian passport alongside his Brazilian one.

Transfer chief Edu is currently on the lookout for another striker for Arsenal as they look to bolster their struggling front line.

Brenner's contract in his homeland of Brazil runs out on 2022, but there is a £45million release clause in the deal.

However, it is believed that Sao Paulo will be prepared to accept around half of that amount, as they look to deal with the financial impact of Covid-19.

Brenner has 17 goals in his last 27 games for Sao Paulo.

Mikel Arteta’s side have struggled in front of goal this season, scoring just nine times in their first eight Premier League matches.

It has left the Gunners in 11th going into the international break, having already tasted defeat on four occasions.

European giants including Juventus, PSG and AC Milan are also believed to be interested in Brenner.
