Edinson Cavani back in Man Utd team after ‘leaked’ private talks over his future

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani was thrown in from the outset against Brighton this evening as speculation continues to surround his Old Trafford future.

The Uruguayan continues to be linked with a move away from United this summer, with a move back to South America his reported desire.

However, apparent leaked news regarding Cavani's future appears to suggest the 34-year-old hasn't made a decision over his future in England.

Journalist Jonathan Shrager claims the former PSG man remains undecided at present.

"I am told that Cavani will decide at the end of April on whether he’ll stay at #MUFC. United have told Edinson they are very happy with him, and want his leadership at the club for another season," he tweeted.

"If he goes, it won’t necessarily be to Boca. Other European clubs are a possibility."

However, this goes against what Cavani's father told the media last month.

In an interview with TyC Sports, he said: "My son does not feel comfortable in England and wants to be close to the family again.

"Edinson is going to end up playing in South America. I want Edinson to play in a team that fights for something important.

"Edinson had many conversations with [Juan Roman] Riquelme [Boca Juniors second vice-president] and he would like to play for Boca.

"He was always seduced by the idea of playing in Boca. If he returns to South America he is leaning towards Boca.

"By the middle of the year he will return to South America My son’s idea is not to continue there, he wants to return."

Argentine journalist Martin Costa has also claimed that Cavani wants a Boca move because they are a "competitive team".

Costa told TNT Sports: "There are chances. I have the information that he wants to come here. That doesn’t mean that he’ll just come. He wants to be in a competitive team."

United managed to overturn a one-goal deficit to beat Brighton 2-1 at Old Trafford.
