Sydney FC coach Steve Corica has pencilled in the match against Western United on May 15 for Adam Le Fondre’s return to Sky Blue.
The prolific English striker is currently in quarantine after arriving in Sydney on Friday night ahead of his second stint with the club.
Le Fondre’s last game was in March for his then club Mumbai City in the Indian Super League, but Corica has no concerns over the star striker’s fitness.
“He’s in good shape – he’s normally pretty good, Adam,” Corica said.
“He finished in March in India, he went back to England after that and obviously spent a bit of time with his family there, but he’s been training in England so physically I think he’ll be pretty close to maybe 75-80 per cent.
“We’ll have a look when he gets out, but he’s got a good week training ahead of that Western game which will be good for him to join the team to see where he is at physically. But he’s a fit boy and I’m sure he might come off the bench a couple of games, but he’ll be ready after that.”

Sydney played out a thrilling 2-2 draw against the Central Coast Mariners on Saturday night, but it was their third consecutive draw with Corica continuing to urge his side to finish off the opposition.
They will certainly be well placed to do that when Le Fondre returns to link up with Bobo and Kosta Barbarouses. When Corica described his new attacking trio as a “good front three”, he was being kind to the rest of the A-League.
Le Fondre has an astonishing record of 45 goals in 68 appearances for Sydney, while Brazilian Bobo recently scored his 48th for the club. Both players are two of the top three most prolific strikers in A-League history.
“It’s an exciting partnership with the three of them – Kosta, Bobo and Le Fondre,” Corica said.
“We’ll have to see when they’re all fit and ready to play and what the situation will be, but it’s good options and good competition for places up top. We’ve got to score more goals and obviously bringing Adam in is why. He’s scored a lot of goals for us over the years, as has Bobo before that and he’s obviously doing very well now. Kosta is also scoring goals and doing a lot of leg work.
“They’ll be a good front three.”
