Cristiano Ronaldo baffles fans after putting hand down pants and ‘eating’ item

When you hear the words 'Cristiano Ronaldo' and 'sick ball control' this isn't what usually comes to mind!

The stomach-churning spirit of Joachim Low is alive and well at the World Cup after Ronaldo was spotted reaching into his pants during Portugal's win over Ghana.

The former Manchester United superstar, who netted the first of his side's three goals against the Africans after winning and converting a penalty, was caught on camera rummaging around in his intimates before popping whatever he found in there into his gob.

The disturbing moment brought back memories of former Germany boss Low who was barely ever seen without a hand down his pants.

We're not sure we want to know what Ronaldo found in his underwear, but fans on social media had a few guesses. "I always knew Ronaldo thought he was chocolate, but this is taking it a little too literally," one user wrote.

"That's grim. What was it? A bit of lunch he had saved?" asked another, while a third said: "Anyone else get a hankering for sweaty shorts jaffa cakes when you're playing football? Nah me neither."

Ronaldo, Joao Felix and Rafael Leao all grabbed goals to help Portugal seal what was in the end a nervy 3-2 win over the Black Stars.

Ghana striker Inaki Williams nearly scored the cheekiest of last-gasp equalisers after hiding behind Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa, waiting for him to put the ball on the floor and nicking it off him with seconds remaining, before slipping at the crucial moment.

With the hell of being paid £500,000-a-week at Old Trafford finally behind him, Ronaldo is now free to be himself … though if this is what 'being himself' looks like then count us out!
