Jamie Carragher got a little more than an earful from former Manchester City defender Micah Richards while they were on punditry duty during Wednesday night’s Champions League clash.
But if that wasn’t embarrassing enough for the Liverpool legend, Richards also took the chance to rinse him on social media.
Carragher and Richards were both covering City’s 2-1 win over PSG in the semi-finals of the Champions League for American broadcasters CBS.
Naturally, the latter was backing his former side to win, and in his usual exuberant style too.
Carragher was playing devil’s advocate and wanted the French giants to come out on top, which led to some absolutely classic moments in the CBS studio.
Anfield icon Carragher had the first little nibble when PSG took the lead courtesy of a header from Brazilian defender Marquinhos’s from a corner.
“Marquinhos! I told you he’d make a difference,” the former defender exclaimed, no doubt getting under the skin of Richards.
With Richards getting more and more agitated, Carragher later added: “I actually fear for my safety if Man City score.”
And as well know, that is exactly what they did – twice – as City completely turned the tie on it’s head in the space of less than 10 minutes.
The absolutely ecstatic Richards literally jumped with joy as he danced around the studio, before shouting a little too closely as a glum looking Carragher shook his head with a wry smile in his co-pundits direction.
The clips of the pair clowning around have gone viral, prompting Richards to have the last laugh on social media.
