Bristol Rovers are expected to complete their move to appoint Joey Barton as their new head coach over the next 48 hours.
Barton has been in talks with the League One club since the start of last week; discussions over the club’s long-term strategy among a number of issues that required ironing out.
But there was significant hope on Sunday that a breakthrough had been made with Barton set to be installed as Paul Tisdale’s replacement this week.

The League One outfit languish in 19th having endured a poor campaign in the third tier
It is understood coaches Clint Hill and Andy Mangan – who worked under Barton at his previous managerial post with Fleetwood – are set to join the 38-year-old at Rovers.
Barton left Fleetwood last month after two years with the club. The former Newcastle star led the Cod Army to the League One play offs last season but were beaten by Wycombe Wanderers in the semi finals.
The 38-year-old left the club in 10th position in the third tier, three points off the play off places having endured a run of one win in eight games before his departure.
