Arsenal transfer news LIVE: Isco, Emiliano Buendia, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil latest

Arsenal are set to be big players in the January transfer window.

Manager Mikel Arteta remains under pressure despite an upturn in form that has seen three wins in a week. The most recent of which, a 4-0 win at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday night, moves the Gunners up to 11th in the Premier League table but there remains work to be done if they’re to close the gap on the top four and deliver on the pre-season hopes of returning to the Champions League again.

That push may begin in January with the winter window now wide open for teams to buy and sell. Arsenal were very active in the summer with the likes of Willian, Gabriel and Dani Ceballos joined by Thomas Partey on deadline day. There could be more new faces in this month with Arteta keen to add more creativity to a side that has struggled to create and take chances for much of this campaign. Real Madrid midfielder Isco has been heavily linked with Arteta known to be a fan and the Spanish champions willing sellers.

That deal may hang on whether the Gunners can clear their own decks with Arteta desperate to trim down what is a bloated first-team squad. Defender Sead Kolasinac has returned to Germany with a loan move to Schalke with many more including defenders Shkodran Mustafi and William Saliba and even Mesut Ozil possible departures before the deadline.

We will have all the latest Arsenal news, rumours and gossip – on both comings and goings – throughout the day.

ISCO NO LONGER ON ARTETA’S RADAR

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is said to have cooled his interest in Real Madrid midfielder Isco due to the good form of 20-year-old Emile Smith Rowe according to the Daily Mail.

Reports claimed that the Gunners were interested in bringing the 28-year-old midfielder in on a six-month loan deal which would have seen them pay a portion of his wages. Before a deal like this could be struck Arsenal will have to move players on, something they struggled to do in the summer.

However, according to Marca, Arteta has now decided against a move for Isco as a result of the form shown by talented youngster Smith Rowe over the festive period.

Smith Rowe has started Arsenal’s last three Premier League games, against Chelsea, Brighton and West Brom, and has provided two assists.

Isco appears to have had another offer on the table from Sevilla and is keen to remain in Spain and work with former Real boss Julen Lopetegui.

The former Malaga man has 18 months left on his current deal at the Bernabeu and could be sold in the summer for just £18million but Real will accept a reasonable price in this window which will also allow them to cut back on his £6.3m salary.
