Arsenal flop Nicolas Pepe is heading to Turkey to sign for Trabzonspor.

The 28-year old joined Arsenal from Lille in 2019 for a then club record £72million but has failed to make an impact and has been left without a squad number this season.

Pepe still had one year left on contract but will be allowed to join Trabzon as a free agent after his deal was mutually cancelled on Thursday.

Pepe was scheduled to fly to Turkey last night ahead of undergoing a medical on Friday morning.

He has agreed a one year deal with Trabzonspor who are seventh in the Turkish Super Lig.

Mail Sport revealed last week that the club were considering terminating his deal in north London, which they decided to go through with.

Throughout his time in north London, Pepe made 112 appearances and managed 27 goals and 21 assists during that time.

His time at Arsenal will be remembered as a disappointing one after the high expectations that had been set for the at-the-time club record signing.

Pepe had 37 goals in 79 appearances at Lille prior to moving to Arsenal, however failed to replicate such numbers with Mikel Arteta’s side.
