Al-Nassr 3-1 Al-Batin: Cristiano Ronaldo goes goalless in thrilling comeback, as the home side score three times in injury time to sink their bottom-place opponents

  • Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr beat Al-Batin 3-1 after three goals in injury time
  • The 38-year-old went goalless after two hat-tricks in his past three games
  • Al-Batin looked set for just a second win of the season before a late comeback

Cristiano Ronaldo failed to pick up a goal contribution for the first time in three Al-Nassr appearances on Friday, as the Saudi side pulled off a dramatic comeback win over Al-Batin.

Renzo Lipez scored the opening goal with a first-half header, as Ronaldo struggled to make an impact despite bagging a hattrick in his last game.

Abdulrahman Ghareeb, who has impressed alongside Ronaldo this season, made it 1-1 in injury time with a classy curled finish after cutting in from the right in the 93rd minute.

There were then dramatic scenes in the dying moments as both Mohammed Al-Fatil and Mohammed Maran scored after the 100th minute to give Al-Nassr a dramatic win.

Ronaldo did effect the game and created a number of chances, but could not find the net in Riyadh.

Cristiano Ronaldo went goalless on Friday as Al-Nassr beat Al-Batin 3-1

It came after the Portugal striker picked up seven goals in his previous three games

His best chance came in the 90th minute, when Ronaldo fizzed a shot across the box from the left wing. The visiting keeper watched it curl wide and the other Al-Nassr forwards were not alert enough to latch on to the loose effort.

The result puts Al-Nassr top of the league, while Al-Batin stay bottom after just one win in 19 games.

It comes after a brilliant spell for Ronaldo that saw him pick up seven goals and two assists in three games.

The £173-million-a-year striker was named Saudi League player of the month after scoring all four in a win against Al-Wheda before bagging a first-half hattrick against Damac just two games later.
