In what will add another chapter to one of rugby league’s oldest rivalries, Sydney Roosters star Latrell Mitchell is reportedly eyeing a move to South Sydney.
According to The Sunday Telegraph, Mitchell is “hoping” to join the Rabbitohs and wants his manager Wayde Rushton to explore all possibilities before deciding his future.

Latrell: The Story So Far
NRL: After a bitter and public contract dispute with the Roosters, will Latrell Mitchell leave Bondi or will he continue his career with the only club he has known? Re-live some of the best highlights from his first four seasons with the Tri-Colours.
No official talks have taken place, however, with the Rabbitohs still intent on signing a big name forward like Jai Arrow to replace Sam Burgess who has been medically retired.
The club are also close to finalising Cody Walker’s extension, someone who is a close friend of Mitchell.
According to the Telegraph, Mitchell would be willing to take a pay cut to join the Roosters’ arch-rivals, and he would need to, with the club unable to match the $1 million per season on offer at the Wests Tigers.
Ironically, it means Mitchell would need to accept a figure around what the Roosters originally offered before it was withdrawn last month after the star centre baulked at the deal.

Mitchell met Roosters powerbrokers earlier in this week where he was told had no future at the club beyond 2020, with the club having used the money set aside for him to re-sign props Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Siosiua Taukeiaho, while they are also believed to be in the process of upgrading the contracts of some of their players.
The Tigers, who have also pulled their offer, have said they’d be willing to re-enter contract negotiations with Mitchell, but it was up to him and his management to express interest in the club.
‘Three-peat’ the aim for NSW
State of Origin: New South Wales captain Boyd Cordner says his team are already setting their sights on an historic ‘three-peat’ victory.
Gold Coast are also still interested, but they would likely need to rejig their roster to fit Mitchell in.
The Roosters have reportedly told Mitchell they’d release him from the final year of his contract to join Wests Tigers in 2020, but it’s unclear if they’d do the same if he were to sign with Sydney Sydney.
