Isabella Grant will make history when she becomes the first father-daughter prospect to line up for the Western Bulldogs in the AFLW.
Grant, the daughter of club legend Chris who is now the Dogs’ head of football, will debut against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium on Friday night.
Grant battled through an injury-hit 2020 campaign but has impressed this year and will don the No.3 guernsey that her famous father wore for most of his career.
“It’s gonna look good on you, I can see it,” Grant snr said after Isabella had surprised him with news of her selection by presenting the No.3 guernsey in a gift-wrapped box.
Grant had been an emergency through the opening two AFLW matches but the Bulldogs are confident she can have an impact as a tall forward or through the middle.
The former Western Jets and Vic Metro junior was taken with the 47th pick of the 2019 national draft.
Grant snr played 341 games in the red, white and blue between 1990 and 2007 and would have won the 1997 Brownlow Medal had he not been controversially suspended.
