Stanley Cup Final: Blues by the numbers as they close in on history

The Blues’ controversial road victory Thursday in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Bruins puts St. Louis, a franchise that came into the league in 1967, on the doorstep of its first NHL title.

So just a victory in Game 6 on Sunday in St. Louis would be historic. But, a win from lifting the Stanley Cup, the Blues have done some remarkable things along the way.

Here are some noteworthy nuggets from the Blues’ (almost) historic 2019 postseason:

– The Blues, who were dead last in the NHL standings through as of Jan. 3 (37 games played), can become the first team in the expansion era (since 1967-68) to be last in the overall standings at any point after its 30th game and rebound to win the Stanley Cup.
