New York Rangers forward Mika Zibanejad suffered an upper-body injury in Sunday’s game against the Boston Bruins after receiving a high hit from Patrice Bergeron.
Late in the first period, Bergeron was going for the puck near the half boards, and as Zibanejad came toward him, Bergeron checked the 26-year-old up high, his shoulder appearing to make contact with the neck/jaw area.
Zibanejad would return to the ice for another shift before heading to the locker room. The team later declared him out for the rest of the contest.
At the first intermission, New York held a 1-0 lead over Boston but has surrendered four goals in the middle frame.
Through eight games this season, the Swedish center has registered four goals and seven assists and leads New York in scoring by a four-point margin.
