John Klingberg injury update: Dallas Stars defenseman out at least two weeks

The Dallas Stars blue line was already missing a couple of key pieces, and now it looks like they’ll be without another one.

Top defenseman John Klingberg was injured in the second period of Tuesday’s 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche and didn’t finish the game. After the Stars’ victory, head coach Jim Montgomery told reporters that the 27-year-old blueliner is likely to miss at least two weeks, as per The Athletic’s Sean Shapiro.

About nine minutes into the second period, Klingberg got hit up high with a Nikita Zadorov slapshot and fell to the ice, going down somewhat awkwardly.

Montgomery confirmed later to reporters that his fall following a shot up high was the result of his injury, per Dallas Morning News’ Matthew DeFranks.

This doesn’t bode well for Dallas, a team already going without the services of Andrej Sekera, Roman Polak and now, Klingberg. However, Sekera is reportedly nearing a return, and this isn’t the first time that the Stars have fallen victim to numerous injuries on defense over time.

Klingberg has one goal and four points in 17 games for Dallas this season and also had an assist in Tuesday’s victory.
