Is Le’Veon Bell going to return this week? And what are we making of the newest starters across the league like Nick Chubb and James White? Oh, and is Sony Michel going to be back in action soon? And what about Matt Breida? Why is he playing through an ankle injury? There are a lot of questions about our Week 9 fantasy RB rankings, but that’s just the nature of the beast at this point in the season. The running back position is banged up, and teams with ineffective committees are experiencing a changing of the guard. The holdout of Bell only further complicates matters.
It also doesn’t help that there are a boatload of byes in Week 9. With six teams on bye and running backs like David Johnson, Joe Mixon, and Saquon Barkley all off, the position is thinner than it has been in the past. There will be more start ’em, sit ’em decisions than normal, with guys like Isaiah Crowell, Raheem Mostert, and Kenjon Barner all getting legitimate consideration as potential fantasy starters.
Week 9 Rankings:
Quarterback | Wide Receiver | Tight End | D/ST | Kicker
This week, there are a few favorable matchups to target. The Redskins and Adrian Peterson get a hapless Falcons run defense that won’t be able to contain Peterson — even after a bye week. Meanwhile, the Browns (vs. Chiefs) and the Bills (vs. Bears) backs will have a chance to produce at a higher level, so they are included among our top plays for the week.
Note: We’ll be updating our RB rankings throughout the week, so check back often!
