College Football Playoff rankings: Alabama remains on top, Michigan moves into a potential postseason spot

Alabama is once again the top team in the country.

The Crimson Tide remain atop the College Football Playoff rankings as it is coming off of a crucial 29-0 road win over LSU.

Clemson is right on their heels, though, after it dropped 77 points on an underachieving Louisville team.

College Football Playoff Top Four

1. Alabama (9-0)
2. Clemson (9-0)
3. Notre Dame (9-0)
4. Michigan (8-1)

The Crimson Tide are on top and Clemson remains No. 2.

Notre Dame defeated Northwestern on the road and moved up to No. 3 with LSU’s loss and Michigan climbed into the top 4 after a dominant win over No. 20 Penn State.

It was a relatively calm week in the CFP playoff rankings.

College Football Playoff First Two Out

5. Georgia (8-1)
6. Oklahoma (8-1)

Georgia is moving on up after its second consecutive win over a top-10 team last week. The Bulldogs defeated Kentucky on the road Saturday one week after dropping Florida at a neutral site.

The Sooners survived a high-scoring bout with Texas Tech on the road and have moved up to No. 6 in the nation.

LSU fell out of the top six after its 29-0 loss to Alabama at home.
