Chris Webber made his return to Michigan on Saturday afternoon, serving as honorary captain for the football team's game against Penn State at Michigan Stadium.
The Fab Five star was seen on the field roughly 30 minutes before kickoff roaming the sidelines.
With a couple minutes before kickoff, Webber wore a blue No. 4 football jersey (the same number he wore at Michigan). Then he took the field for the coin toss with Michigan's captains, and received a large round of applause when he was shown on the video board. He waved his hand to acknowledge the cheers.
It was the reaction coach Jim Harbaugh was expecting.
"The loyal Michigan fans that write to me and I hear from are excited about it," Harbaugh said Wednesday during a radio appearance with 97.1 (WXYT-FM). "That's the reaction I would expect."
It appears Webber arrived in Ann Arbor on Friday. He was not seen at the basketball team's exhibition game against Northwood on Friday night.
